Description

Are you looking for a new opportunity and the chance to make a difference? Are you warm, willing to learn, and resilient? Then you are probably just the person our children need.
You'll be a Support Worker at our children's home, working with children who have autism and severe learning disabilities. Part of a close-knit team, you'll support children and young people aged 11 to 19, supporting them with their daily lives and encouraging them to take part in community activities and hobbies. During the day the children go to the nearby MacIntyre school.
We have full and part-time work available (minimum 22.5 hours per week) and you'll be working shifts on a rota including days, evenings and weekends.

You may have been a care worker or healthcare assistant before, but if not don’t worry, you don’t need experience – so long as you have the right approach, we can teach you the rest.
We’ll support you to gain your Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (free of charge), alongside other specialist training all provided on site by MacIntyre. The Diploma is a requirement for all Support Workers at our residential children's homes and you will need to obtain it within two years of starting your employment with us.
Some things you need to know

You’ll be supporting young people who have complex needs and may show challenging behaviour. Our specialist teams will support you to learn ways of helping them manage this behaviour.
You must be willing to provide personal care where needed.
Ideally you will have a full driving licence as you may be asked to drive service vehicles and obviously you will need to get to and from work - our children's home is in a rural location with no close-by public transport.
About us
MacIntyre is an award-winning national charity supporting people with learning disabilities.
We use person-centred approaches to keep the people we support safe, happy and healthy and to ensure each individual is able to live a life that makes sense to them. Using Positive Behaviour Support strategies ensures we see the person first, not their behaviour or learning disability.

About you
Experience isn’t always necessary. If you have the right attitude, good customer service skills, share our values and are willing to learn, you’re likely to be a great fit. We are looking for people who celebrate differences, and we strive to make all our staff feel included, valued and respected.

You must be a driver with your own transport which is insured for business use.

Training and Development
At Macintyre we fully support your training and development. We know it can be daunting to start a new job, and not everyone learns the same way, so throughout your probation we will provide you with a mixture of eLearning, face-to-face training and mentoring support whilst on the job.
But it doesn't stop there - throughout your career with us you will have access to our own dedicated in house Learning and Development team, Quality Specialists and HR Teams. These teams, along with your Manager, will provide you with opportunities to learn and develop professionally as well as enabling and supporting you to achieve professional qualifications and career progression opportunities - all free of charge.
