Job Summary



Collaborates with global and regional leaders to develop and implement the operational physical security strategy and systems roadmap. Anticipates high-impact physical security issues within the Americas Operations and Security teams and leads the development of strategies for mitigation. Budgets and forecasts global operational security training & documentation needs utilizing expert industry knowledge and best practices.



Responsibilities



- Responsible for the Americas Physical Security Enablement, Innovation and Project Management teams. Ensures consistency in meeting performance goals for customer satisfaction, availability, fiscal responsibility and responsiveness.



- Develops operational Physical Security strategy and works cross-functionally with internal departments such as Sales, Customer Care and Experience, Operations Enablement, Design and Construction and external organizations to meet the security needs of the business.



- Works closely with global security leadership to forecast global operational training needs, establish project plans, and secure resources to deploy training



- Manages process development and process improvement for security standards



- Leads broad-scale regional and global security projects including budgeting and financial management, program enhancements and assists the companys strategic direction for operational impact.



Job Details



Manages and Leads the Americas IBX Operations and Security teams within the following areas:



People Management

- Manages the Americas based Security team through strong people leadership.



- Responsible for vendor management and associated vendor performance.



- Develops and motivates team members to drive results through coaching and development



- Manages and reviews workload, staffing levels and leverages innovation to scale for future growth.



Business Systems

- Provides expert level oversight and team guidance across all AMER IBX Operations regions for security systems.



- Develops and maintain alignment with executive stakeholders regarding security systems and policy, strategic direction and future business objectives.



- Manages Operational security functions, business process system solutions including specification standards, data integrity and exception handling.



- Provides process and system leadership to the security engineers and system administrators who install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the security systems for the organization.



Project Management

- Reviews and provides guidance and direction as needed on project scheduling, budgeting, and administrative tasks.



- Responsible for managing expectations of cross-functional stakeholders through project summary and progress updates.



- Identify, analyzes, and monitors issues that affect profitability, growth, and productivity.



Process Engineering

- Serves as the content owner for the Americas security staff and systems standard operating procedures (SOPs). Collects recommendations/input from cross-functional groups to keep SOPs current and aligned with global policies and procedures.



- Ensures maintenance of security drawings and product data information is completed by the regional security team.



- Authors a variety of technical security documentation including procedures, articles, reports, and/or user manuals.



- Adheres to publishing procedures to ensure all documentation is deployed according to established change control processes.



Training

- Develops methods and materials for training security teams and may prepare curriculum including lectures, ideas for group discussions, demonstrations, and workshops.



- Identifies and communicates industry standards and strategies with the leadership teams to develop and implement new security standards within the company.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



- Must be a highly organized, self-motivated and positive people leader



- Must have a demonstrated ability to provide effective oversight of teams, systems management, end to end development and implementation of security initiatives, plans and solutions.



- Extensive practical experience working with physical security systems, as well as physical security solutions design, implementation and project management, with a focus on physical security and low voltage systems, components and protocols.



- Understanding of low voltage technology (CCTV, Alarms, access control, door hardware) and a variety of security technology systems, vendors and industry trends.



- Strong working knowledge of physical IT infrastructures and basic networking concepts (IP addresses, MAC addresses, etc.).



- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, including but not limited to physical security, network, electrical, and architectural drawings.



- Must be proficient with all elements of physical security including but not limited to, construction process from schematic design through the bid process and construction administration, third-party vendor management, incident response and mitigation, full systems upgrade replacement planning and execution, and asset acquisition and integration.



- Strong understanding of evidence collection and investigative process.



- Must be a confident public speaker able to present to high-profile clients, senior and executive leaders, suppliers and partners.



- Able to work independently and direct teams to make timely decisions, manage multiple project initiatives and priorities, develop and manage budgets and operating expenses.



- Required to travel extensively across all Equinix operating sites within America and perform international travel outside of the Americas as needed.



Education / Certifications / Experience



- Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, Management, Business, or a related discipline



- Preferred minimum of 6+ years of experience in people management and 10+ years in security systems design and maintenance, operations and vendor management fields



- Extensive experience, leadership and management in a mission-critical, 24x7 operation, data center environment.



- Experience managing large vendor multi-year contracts, directly managing people, and influencing a diverse organization of full-time employees and contractors across multiple disciplines, business units and platforms.



- Certification with a major security system manufacture; preferably Symmetry, Software House, Honeywell or Loronix.
