Job Summary



The Product Safety Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the product safety function through all phases of the product life cycle to ensure products are safe for consumer use and meet all internal and external product safety requirements.



Primary Duties & Responsibilities

- Develops and maintains all of the companys product safety processes and documentation.

- Manages the review and approval process for new products and changes to existing products for compliance with applicable product safety standards and regulations.

- Responds to customer inquiries regarding product safety.

- Conducts investigations into product safety issues.

- Ensures that products meet applicable product safety standards.

- Reviews and approves product label instructions and warnings.

- Supports other departments within the company with product safety related needs.

- Develops relationships and works with external product safety testing labs.

- Identifies changes in product safety rules and practices to ensure that the companys products remain in compliance with product safety requirements.

- Leads the companys cross functional product safety committee, including meetings.



Education and Experience Profile

- Bachelors degree required, preferable in a chemistry or an engineering related field.

- 5+ years experience in managing product safety. Experience with pesticides (such as insecticides and/or herbicides) preferred.



Required Skills

- Experience working in product safety compliance.

- Strong knowledge of consumer product safety laws and requirements.

- Experience with product safety testing methods.

- Experience with product safety metrics and tracking.

- Demonstrated problem solving skills.

- Good written and oral communication skills.

- Ability to work well in a team environment.

- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.

- Ability to manage projects independently.

- Ability to travel to supplier sites (audits and issue resolution)
